CALL Copenhagen has facilitated the development of a GIS-driven platform for co-creative and collaborative planning of local climate adaptation projects.
The development was undertaken by the Copenhagen learning resource center ENERGY & WATER in a partnership with Greater Copenhagen Utility, The City of Copenhagen, GEOINFO, Build a World and The University of Aalborg with support from the Danish water sector’s development and demonstration program (VUDP).

Empowering local communities
The Climate Adaptation Collaboration points to how we get local communities involved in making decisions that are sustainable not only for themselves but also for society as a whole.
GIS-driven co-creation
Through the use of relevant technologies (from drones to paper cards), the Collaboration gives citizens insight into the complex issues associated with managing the water in their local areas.
Lower threshold for informed participation
With this information, citizens can participate in discussions about the solutions in their area, and citizens can express their concerns and test their ideas using various technologies where the threshold for participation is low and where negotiation can take place.
Award-winning solution
The Collaboratorium for Climate Adaptation was nominated for the European Network of Living Lab’s “Living Lab Project Award 2018” and won ESRI’s prize for Danish GISelle of the Year 2019 as well as the prestigeous Danish National Geodata Award 2019.
